Shawver park
In December 2015, Grace Baptist Church received a large donation from Linda Shawver's estate. Linda had a heart for children and reaching them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a church, we have a passion for reaching our community for Jesus Christ. The Gospel has put us on mission. We do not live for ourselves anymore, we live for Jesus Christ: To Love Him, Serve Him, and Glorify Him.
As followers of Christ, we are called to love those around us. The community surrounding Grace Baptist Church is filled with children yet lacking any form of recreation for them to participate in on a daily basis. Seeing this need, the leadership of Grace Baptist Church decided to pursue building a playground on the grounds of Grace Baptist Church to serve the needs of our community.
Construction of the playground was completed in the spring of 2017 and the grand opening was held on Memorial Day. GBC is currently investigating additional items to add to Shawver Park for the entire family.
You may be wondering, "Why would they spend $45,000 on a park that will not be primarily used by the children and families of Grace Baptist Church?" That is a great question! The answer is quite simple. Jesus Christ displayed incredible love for us. He didn't have to do it, and yet he did. His love went far beyond a playground, though. He died in our place, paying our eternal debt. In doing this, he gave us hope, purpose, and a relationship with God himself.
Our hope is that our love for this community will help you to see the incredible love that Jesus Christ has for you. You are loved by Grace Baptist Church. Much more than that, you are infinitely loved by the God of the Universe. We hope that you will enjoy this new playground and it will lead you to see the love that God has for you.
